Hollyn's 2nd Birthday and Fishing

The turn of summer brings warmer weather and lots of activity. One of the big events for us is Hollyn's birthday in late May. This year we pushed her birthday party back a weekend and joined it with her cousin Ashton's, who also turned 2. Yep...they were born just a few days apart.

The weather was INCREDIBLE and we had a wonderful time full of family and friends. This year the family included Heather's parents, her brother and his two kids, her grandparents, her aunt and uncle from Spokane and my parents.

With an 85 degree day and lots of sun, the recipe for fun was a swimming pool and a slip 'n slide! Here are a few picks of the event.

Everyone had a great time, despite a few sunburns! (Yeah...sunburns in Vancouver...who'da thunk!?)

The fun didn't end on Saturday though. The next day most of the family got together again for a hearty breakfast then went out to a local lake to go fishing. Heather and I have been getting into fishing more and more lately, and most of Heather's love for fishing came from seeing the love for it in her Grandpa's eyes and having him teach her how. It's fairly rare that we get to enjoy Heather's grandparents as company at our house, so we took the time to invite them out to fish. Here are a couple pictures from that.

And here's two from a couple weeks ago when we went out to Battle Ground lake with my parents.

  • Your kids are really cute! I can't believe how big they are already! Think you'll have anymore? We're cookin' up #3 right now - a girl! We have two crazy boys right now.

  • Hey Betsy,

Congratulations to you and Joel for #3. After two crazy boys, I'm sure you'll LOVE having a girl! No more kids for us though. We had talked about 3 or maybe even 4, but ultimately the conversation kept boiling down to money and now that Heather has a teaching job the conversation is boiling down to age! Oh well...we're very thankful for the two wonderful (and adorable) babies we do have!
